Kathleen Tan, AirAsia’s Regional Head of Commercial said, “Our growing presence in Hong Kong since our conception in May 2008 signifies the commitment that AirAsia has for the Hong Kong and South China market. We are confident that this new route will stimulate more travel between these two destinations and enhance tourism activities. We are optimistic that our low fares and world class services will continue to induce more travel demand and contribute to the economies of both nations. Medan is a new hub to AirAsia which connects the world to other Indonesian destinations of Bandung and Surabaya, and through Hong Kong, Indonesians are able to hop onto other parts of Southern China. We are proud to see its high sustainability.”
“Amidst vast-changing travel habits, more travelers are opting for several destinations as part of their holiday plans especially where connectivity is widely available, instead of spending time in one particular destination. With that, AirAsia stands out as the perfect choice for such travelers, with our excellent flexibility coupled with affordable fares to guests in Hong Kong and around the Pearl River Delta region as we fly to Macau, Guangzhou and Shenzhen as well. Guests can travel from Hong Kong to Medan, and return via Kuala Lumpur; or guests can fly from Hong Kong to Bangkok, hop on to Medan and return to Hong Kong. I believe that this is a strategic move that will benefit both ends, and AirAsia is looking forward to serve the community of Hong Kong. Whilst for Hong Kongers visiting Medan, they will be enthralled by its unexploited beauty and energy. This would also further boost inter-domestic travel to Bandung and Surabaya from our Medan hub. Apart from that, guests may also leverage on AirAsia’s vast route network in South-East Asia and beyond as we fly to over 132 routes and over 70 hot destinations across Asia including India, Japan and Korea; Australia and Europe at ultra-low fares.” concluded Kathleen.
